Everyone is talking about infrastructure in the creator economy. Almost nobody will say what the word means, because the answer is boring. It means building and mastering the fundamentals of legacy media with a modern approach.

I have watched digital studios and creator businesses stall at the same three gaps. No repeatable brand partnership revenue. No real team. No operating systems. Every week starts from zero and the creator is the bottleneck in their own company.

Closing those gaps is unglamorous work. It means selling to buyers you already know, or should know, in a framework they understand: media kits, measurement, renewal terms. Marketers speak that language all day. Most creators never learn it. It means systemizing research and analytics so content and partnership strategy come from data, not instinct. And it means hiring people and service providers so the business grows past what one person can do, and the creator gets back to creating.

The industry is laying this plumbing whether creators participate or not. Look at this week's issue: Dentsu just wired Meta's creator marketplace into its own planning system, and Google now shows Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube performance inside Search Console. The measurement and transaction layer is arriving. The question is whether a creator owns their piece of it or rents someone else's.

Which brings me to this week's video, on the future of MrBeast's multi-billion dollar empire. Let me be clear about what it is not: a template. Jimmy Donaldson is the top 0.00000001% of creator outcomes, and "do what MrBeast does" is bad advice. But it is the shiniest example we have of the boring stuff at scale. A real org chart. Repeatable formats. Owned products. Partnerships run like a sales operation.

The fundamentals have not changed. A creator with an audience has a channel. A creator with partnership revenue, a team, and systems has a company. Companies are what get funded, bought, and built to last.

The rest of this week's issue, from Stamford's new Gen Alpha talent pipeline to the microdrama land grab, sits on that same line.

How Aéropostale entertains Gen Alpha with a creator-led mini-series

Summer intern season is going strong, and for teen apparel retailer Aéropostale, that means it’s time for the “Intern Diaries,” a serialized content series that launched in 2025. For its return this year, Aéropostale stepped up production and turned the second go around into a socially native mini-series starring teen creator Déjà Clark. (Marketing Dive)

Dentsu strikes Meta deal to build influencer campaign plumbing

Dentsu’s Meta deal is a sign that influencer marketing is moving from one-off creator campaigns to industrial-scale infrastructure. By plugging Meta’s Creator Marketplace and Partnership Ads into its own planning system, Dentsu can help brands find creators, contract them, and launch paid creator ads much faster. The impact: agencies are trying to become the control center for creator marketing before brands build those systems themselves, and smaller creators are becoming a bigger, more measurable part of mainstream media plans. Costco’s Organic Social Buzz Is Pulling In Younger Members Without a Marketing Budget

Costco is currently winning over the under-40 demographic without spending a dime on traditional advertising. The driver behind this growth is pure, unpolished user-generated content (UGC). Recent data shows that everyday shoppers and "nano creators" posting raw, ordinary videos of Costco finds are generating 2.4 times more engagement than polished influencer campaigns. Shoppers are also 79% more likely to buy when they see this type of everyday UGC next to a product. (Net Influencer)

Brands see content gold in microdramas. Will they muck up the moment?

Brands are experimenting with microdramas - short, serialized vertical videos built for platforms like TikTok, ReelShort, and TikTok Shop - as a way to turn marketing into entertainment instead of another skippable ad. The format is drawing real attention because it is cheaper and faster to produce than traditional campaigns, but experts warn that brands risk killing the trend if they chase the format without strong storytelling, clear goals, and transparent product integration. For marketers, the bigger takeaway is that microdramas may be less about a quick content fad and more about the shift toward social-first, creator-driven franchises that build anticipation over time. Zigazoo and Wheelhouse (Stamford) are building a “launchpad for ambitious young talent”

Zigazoo and Stamford-based Wheelhouse Group are betting that Gen Alpha creators need more than a kid-safe social platform - they need a real talent pipeline. Zigazoo Studios will help young creators turn early attention into shows, live programming, products, and brand deals, while giving parents and partners a more controlled environment than mainstream social apps. The impact: as lawmakers scrutinize kids’ access to social media, the creator economy is starting to build safer, more structured pathways for young talent to grow into durable media brands. Google Search Console Platform Properties Show You Instagram, TikTok, X & YouTube Content Performance

Google is making social content more measurable in search by adding Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube “platform properties” to Search Console. That means creators, publishers, and brands can finally see which posts and search terms are driving Google Search and Discover traffic to their social content - not just their websites. The impact: social posts are becoming part of the searchable content ecosystem, so teams can better understand what gets discovered, optimize social content for search, and prove the value of platforms beyond likes and follows.
