The Digest: Fairfield County Marketing & Media Pros
Critical insights, local highlights, new opportunities.

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Digest.
A clear theme emerged from the stories this week. The lines between brand, platform, and entertainment are not just blurring—they're gone.
In our Marketing & Media News section, we see Disney+ preparing to add vertical video, signaling a shift to become a daily habit rather than just a destination for long-form content. Meanwhile, TelevisaUnivision is finding success with advertisers through its new line of short-form "microdramas," proving that compelling storytelling doesn't require a 30-minute slot. And Fast Company argues that by 2026, "branded entertainment will just be entertainment," a trend already visible as Instagram heads to TV and Hollywood court brand dollars.
In our Fairfield County Spotlight, we see this trend playing out locally, with Connecticut businesses increasingly connecting with local content creators to reach audiences in authentic ways.
And finally, in our Insights section, we look at how to get product placements right in an era where audiences are savvy to overt marketing.
The takeaway? The most successful brands aren't just interrupting entertainment; they are becoming it.
Despite the shifts, the local job market remains strong. We have new senior roles this week at Deloitte, Interactive Brokers, Conair, Rhone, and Mastercard.
Our Video of the Week provides a powerful look at the human side of this new media landscape. It details why Luke Nichols of the popular Outdoor Boys channel returned from retirement—not for views, but to help fellow creator MyLifeOutdoors secure sponsor income while facing a family cancer diagnosis. It’s a poignant reminder of the real lives, communities, and business realities behind the content.
That’s it for this week. Enjoying this newsletter? Please feel free to share with others and let me know your thoughts.

Title: The TRUTH Behind The Outdoor Boys Return
Published: 12/14/2025
The video features a discussion between Luke Nichols of the Outdoor Boys channel and the host of MyLifeOutdoors, offering insights into the realities of being a content creator, especially for those running full-time YouTube channels. Luke Nichols' return to YouTube is relevant because he had previously announced his retirement from his popular Outdoor Boys channel in May 2025.
The primary reason for his return, as discussed in the video, was to support the host of MyLifeOutdoors. Luke saw the host's video about his wife's cancer diagnosis and, understanding the immense pressure of running a full-time YouTube channel, wanted to help. He offered to make a video for the host's channel, which provided much-needed income from sponsors like OnX Backcountry during a difficult time for the host and his family. This act of assistance allowed the host to reduce his travel for filming and be present for his wife's medical appointments
