Welcome to this week’s edition of The Digest.
If this week's curated news proves anything, it's that the digital media landscape is simultaneously maturing rapidly and facing significant growing pains.
On the one hand, the business models are solidifying. Netflix’s advertising pivot is paying off massively, with revenue expected to double in 2026. YouTube is aggressively closing the loop between viewing and buying with new shoppable connected TV ad units. Perhaps most telling is former Paramount Co-CEO Brian Robbins launching a new studio that will develop major IP like 'Eloise' on YouTube before taking it to theaters—a significant validation of the platform's power to incubate franchises.
Yet, instability remains the norm. A landmark legal trial against social media giants kicked off this Tuesday in Los Angeles, and a sudden ownership shakeup at TikTok over the weekend has left creators reeling amid platform chaos.
Closer to home, the news is overwhelmingly positive. Connecticut’s economic growth was recently ranked in the top 10 nationally, and Westport resident Shonda Rhimes just released the highly anticipated first part of "Bridgerton" season four.
